Info

The signature on my correspondence usually says Photography, Videography, Design, and Consulting. Yes, I do all that, and some other things too. I have also worked as an architect, painter, graphic designer, editorial artist, web designer, and online editor. There is a common thread that runs through these disparate endeavors, and it involves a visual aesthetic and sense of design that favors a clean simplicity and focus. While different, they have all contributed to the versatile and rounded creative that I am today. I have been doing freelance and contract work since 2009. Rate information below.

My “fair weather” treehouse office.

My wife Kendra and I lived in Alaska for almost 20 years, we met while working for a sea kayaking company operating out of Seward. We have lived in Washington State on the Kitsap Peninsula (in the middle of Puget Sound) since 2005 and have two great kids who are busy defining their own lives as artistic and creative people (musician and dancer, respectively, and both talented artists). We also have an adorable dog and a cat that doesn’t really give a crap.

Two years ago we bought a ’89 Volkswagen Westfalia camper van with dreams of someday spending a nice amount of time traveling and camping (to areas with less rain than we have here in coastal Washington). I am lucky that much of the work I do I can do from anywhere as long as WiFi can be found nearby, so some time living “the van life” doesn’t mean I won’t be able to help with your project. I look forward to photographing and filming in landscapes that I haven’t been able to spend much time exploring yet. From what we’ve learned, owning one of these vans can be an adventure unto itself.

Rates

This can get a little complicated, depending on what I might be doing for you. I’ll try to make it as simple as I can.

Photography:
1/2 Day – $275
Full Day – $500
Multi-Day or Photography + Video – Let’s talk
This includes the post-processing/editing that digital photography requires (I work in RAW format) and access to a number of finished digital files that we will agree to. Any necessary travel expenses will be added.

Videography:
This is harder to give an estimate for without defining the project, so much more time goes into shooting and editing a film. Please know that I am a reasonable person and will do my best to work within your budget, get in touch and let’s talk about it.

Design:
Standalone design work I bill at an hourly rate of $60/hr. Larger projects such as design/build of websites are estimated based on the scope of the project.

What is Your Project?

I’m really up for almost anything. I do everything from product photography (best seen on CBsNuts.com website), to shooting weeklong conferences at locations all over the country, to filming an ongoing endeavor over various lengths of time to create educational or documentary films. I sometimes also edit someone else’s video projects to refine or improve them. Use the contact form to tell me what you’re thinking.
