Landscape Architecture Intern

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Position Summary

The Landscape Architecture Intern will support JQOL's landscape architecture team on a variety of projects while gaining hands-on experience in a professional design environment. This position provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, develop technical and design skills, and learn from experienced landscape architects and designers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of landscape architecture plans, details, exhibits, planting plans, and construction documents.
• Support the development of landscape designs through sketches, drawings, diagrams, renderings, and 3D models.
• Participate in site visits and assist with site analysis, including topography, vegetation, and existing site conditions.
• Conduct research related to native plants, landscape materials, sustainability practices, and applicable regulations.
• Assist with the preparation of client presentation materials, including renderings, diagrams, and layout plans.
• Work collaboratively with landscape architects, engineers, surveyors, and project managers to support project goals and deadlines.
• Assist with project documentation, including plans, sections, details, and planting designs.
• Learn and utilize AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design software.
• Gain exposure to project coordination, scheduling, and other aspects of the project lifecycle.
• Assist with other projects and team needs assigned.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Previous experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design software is a plus.
• Creative mindset with an interest in landscape design, sustainability, and the built environment.
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
